The news story indicates that Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) is particularly difficult to detect by mammogram and ultrasound and that women who suspect IBC need MRIs. It also indicates that IBC is a particularly aggressive form of cancer. What the newscaster doesn't know/indicate is that thermograms are another useful tool in the early detection process:

Inflammatory Breast Cancer Example:

The left image indicates the highest temperatures in black, while the right images indicate the highest temperatures in orange, yellow, and white.

IBC is a type of cancer in which the breast skin looks red and swollen and feels warm. The skin may also have a pitted appearance (like the skin of an orange). The redness and warmth occur as cancer cells block the lymph vessels in the skin.

Because thermal imaging is a heat-based technology, this client's inflammatory breast cancer is obvious in the upper left breast. Do you see the extensive blood supply involved?

The Thermogram Center is not a treatment or diagnosing center. Please consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner when seeking medical advice.
